As always, when Chip Hart from PCC speaks, I listen.
He recommended a book called TRACTION. Interestingly, we have studied the real state model for years, including their training classes and masterminds as a possible model to help pediatricians remain true to their mission and free of the mega health system. The author and his father ran the USA's most prominent real estate training company.
What I like the most about the book is the “scorecard “that defines goals in 3 months intervals and uses a modified “SMART,” limiting it to two lagging indicators. You can better understand the idea from two great books, The 4 Disciplines of Execution and The 12-week Year. The author adds a clear eye values score to each scorecard, which I think is a genius idea.
The Organizational chart disappointed me as it is a little too simplistic for the complex machine that is a medical practice. In essence, it lacks a C-Suite Quality Officer. That is understandable, as quality is not essential to the realtor when you are selling homes, and they help the seller or buyer achieve their goal at the best price possible.
The other concepts in the book are borrowed from more in-depth books such as Tim Collins’ Good To Great, Who, Who Not How. In essence, hire the best team, to begin with a proven process and avoid " kicking people off the bus. “
It is an excellent recommendation, but for me, not a deep enough playbook to lead a world-class medical practice.
